Is your team slogging along? No surprise. Recent study after study shows that approximately 70% of the workforce is currently unmotivated. Covid hangover? Yes, of course. But this isn't the main thing.
The primary reason? Lack of recognition. This is numero uno. Lack of recognition (not money) is also cited as the #1 reason people leave their job.
So…If you want to up motivation, productivity and retention...up the recognition. This doesn’t imply bullshitting people or false praise. Rather, it just means paying attention, noticing, recognizing and showing appreciation for actual good work.
Real recognition goes a long way. So you shouldn’t be stingy with it. And if you are already doing this, great job (haha).
